Ahi Asian Bistro

As a sushi consumer for more than 40 years I seldom hesitate to try a place that is new to me. Quite often I walk out once I see the selection in the counter box. If what I see pleases me or I notice something special, I will stay. What attracted me was a chalkboard that listed Sweet Shrimp and a couple types of fish belly. I also noticed a specialty roll that I found very intriguing. When they told me the shrimp included the head, I was hooked. Their Toro was just ok. $15 for a couple small slices, not something I would order again. The Salmon Belly I liked much better, silky smooth with generous cuts. The star was the Sweet Shrimp. A succulent and tasty treasure that almost melted in my mouth. The crunchy head battered and cooked to perfection. As is customary, I tried the Tempura Shrimp and liked it as well. A very light batter, just a tad oily, that lets you experience the shrimp flavor. A different version that I found appealing. I did not try the roll I wanted because I was full. A complimentary Miso Soup and Spring Roll were a nice touch. The service was very good, they were patient, helpful, attentive and friendly throughout. I will be coming back. Come get you some.

I can't say enough great things about Ahi Asian Bistro! From the moment we walked in, the service was absolutely top-notch—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It made the entire experience feel special from start to finish. Now, let’s talk about the food—every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. The Teriyaki Salmon Dinner Box was perfection: beautifully cooked salmon with just the right balance of sweetness and umami, accompanied by fresh, flavorful sides that complemented the main dish wonderfully. The Pad Thai with Shrimp was equally impressive—perfectly seasoned, with plump shrimp and just the right amount of kick. It hit every note you’d want in a classic Pad Thai. And the cherry on top? The iced coffee with boba and coconut milk. Creamy, refreshing, and not overly sweet—just the way I like it. It was the perfect way to end the meal. Whether you’re a local or just visiting Tampa, Ahi Asian Bistro is a must-visit. Stellar service, amazing food, and an overall fantastic dining experience. I’ll definitely be back!

We've been delighted patrons of this place for several years now, and our experiences have been nothing short of exceptional. The first thing you notice is the extraordinary freshness of the ingredients – every bite is a testament to the high quality and dedication to sourcing the best produce. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, largely due to the incredibly friendly staff and the down to earth owner, who always goes out of their way to make us feel welcomed. One of the unique charms of this restaurant is the beautiful hand-painted koi on the wall. It's a beautiful piece of art that adds to the authentic ambiance and makes the environment even more enjoyable. We wholeheartedly recommend this sushi restaurant to anyone looking for a delightful dining experience.

Very pleased with this place. Food was delicious and fish was very fresh. Sushi rolls were well made with flavors I haven’t gotten anywhere else. The customer service was a little off with the takeout server being impatient and not helpful, but it could’ve been an off day. I’ll check it out again to see if this is the norm.

I have been to Ahi Asian Bistro a few times and have been very pleased with their service and food. As a vegetarian, I often struggle with sushi places in the area handling my sushi after using roe, causing the roe to get all over my “vegetarian” sushi rolls making them inedible for me. I have never had this issue at Ahi Asian Bistro. They have several veggie options and they are very tasty. The friends that I have gone with have tried a variety of their rolls (non veggie) and loved them all. Would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for good sushi.

I'm not exactly an Asian food lover, but through the years, I have been to enough Asian restaurants to know what is actually good. This is a quiet place, the food was delicious (we were a party of 3 and we all asked different dishes and we were all satisfied), my dish was just a little slow but it was worthy all the wait. And, given the current circumstances, the price was more than fair. I have actually recommended it to some friends and family.

Absolutely loved our experience at Ahi Asian Bistro in Carrollwood! We started with the crispy spring rolls and flavorful dumplings — the perfect intro to what turned into a seriously delicious meal. The shrimp with avocado in tamarind sauce was next-level amazing, and the massive sushi boat was both a showstopper and packed with fresh flavor. We also tried the stir-fried eggplant, Panang curry, and wrapped it all up with Thai fried ice cream and donuts — every bite was a hit. The service was outstanding — super friendly and made us feel right at home. Don’t leave without asking for the Roger sauce — it’s customizable from mild to hot-hot and seriously addictive. They’ve got a couple of unique Asian beers, and I highly recommend the Thai tea. Before you head out, make sure to check out the amazing murals on the walls — there are hidden images worked into the artwork (hint: there are 3 to find!). This spot is a gem — can’t wait to go back!

Ahi Asian Bistro is where I go when I want comfort food! Their fried shrimp with avocado & tofu Panang are my favs. The sushi is always a step above any other in our area. But the staff & owner make the experience perfect! They are all so gracious & welcoming! And their Thai Tea is delish!
